I Couldn't Take it Any Longer!

I couldn't wait to grow things, that is! A week or so ago I planted some lettuce in a window box and set it on the front porch- it finally sprouted! I brought it inside though, because it's supposed to be below zero every night for the next 4 days, and the front porch is not insulated.

I placed a small order with Johnny's- I did not want to miss out on my red gold potatoes, which sold out last year. I am trying a new variety of corn this year, and will grow jalepeno's to hopefully pickle for Joe- I have nothing to do with them, but he loves them, and I love him....so there you go.

Lettuce- now living on the south facing bedroom window sill.

It's that time of year, where I know it's winter, and it's still going to be winter for awhile, but we've passed mid January, and I can see, somewhere, in the not so distant future- Spring. I can get away with starting some veggies inside next month, and not too long after that, I can think about tapping the maples ( if we go that route again this year!).

My break from classes is completely over now- back to the grind- I've got classes this semester with first year students, and it makes me feel a little old. I suppose it's my own fault- one, for taking so long to take a basic math class, and two, for taking so long to finish college!
They always think they want to go out, even if it's freezing cold.

escapees!

Despite the cold, we've been getting a fair amount of eggs lately.

More Older Photos

It's fun for me to look through my older photos- I hope someone else is enjoying it too!!

This photo is from 2008- October- last canoe of the season. I like the look on Joe's face...he looks disgusted/disappointed with his catch!

Here is our house, just 2 months after we moved in. ( December 2008).

Photo taken while driving in New Hampshire- coming up on Mt. Washington. May first, 2009. We stayed at a B&B in Fryeburg, ME, which was lovely (Peace With Inn)

Photo's from years past....

I've got a post ready to go, and for some reason, I'm not able to upload photos from my computer right now, BUT I can upload from my web albums. I decided it would be fun to share some of my favorite photos from some other years...2, 3, 4 maybe even 5 or 6 years ago!

Here are a few photo's of a trip to Moosehead lake. We stayed at Casey's Spencer Bay camps. Joe's family always stayed there when he was young, so it's one of his favorite spots.
A scary microburst happened while we were there and did a number on our campsite (and dinner plans!) we ended up spending a few hours in the car eating ring dings before we dashed through the rain and hunkered down in the tent for the night. It was beautiful and sunny the next morning like nothing ever happened.

These photos are from october 2007. We took a late anniversary trip to New Horton, New Brunswick (Canada) and stayed at An Artists Garden B&B , which I highly recommend! It was small and quiet, and still private. The rooms were great, and the setting was beautiful!

The Kitties! We had a stray kitty who went out one day and never came back. After awhile, we decided we were ready for another cat. On my birthday in 2008 we went to the shelter looking for one cat, and came home with two! The tabby ( Mika, AKA Tiny) was extremely shy ( still is) and they had put her in a crate with the black one ( Chaco, AKA Mumma) and she seemed to improve, so they wanted them to stay together. We could not resists. These two are the best!
